Head of Trinity Barristers Chambers, Toby Hedworth Q.C. defended barber, Lloyd Dobrodumow at Newcastle Crown Court following an incident on 10th June 2014.
The defendant was accused of cutting Robert Charles Smith's neck with a cut throat razor following a disturbance at "Jack's" barber shop. At trial, Judge Tom Little, accepted that there had been no intent in the injury as the blade was something that the defendant used every day at work and he did not realise it was still in his hand at the time of the incident.
The defendant admitted unlawful wounding and was given a 12 month suspended sentence, 200 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay £5,000 compensation.
