Trinity Chambers will be supporting the launch of the Northern branch of the Social Housing Law Association (SHLA) by hosting a video link to its first ever event on the evening of Thursday 19 September 2019.
SHLA is an organisation of and for social housing professionals and their lawyers. Its members are made up of local authorities, housing associations, housing and policy professionals and solicitors and barristers who regularly represent social landlords. SHLA has successful branches in London and the Midlands. This is its first event in the North. Specialist Housing barrister at Trinity, Alice Richardson is a member of the recently formed SHLA North Committee and aims to raise the profile of the Association in the region.
In her final report as Victims’ Commissioner for England & Wales, Baroness Newlove highlighted that victims of anti-social behaviour are being let down by police, local councils and housing providers, with many victims having to suffer in silence. For its inaugural event, SHLA North has assembled an expert panel to discuss the report and the steps that housing providers can take to support victims better.
Guest speakers at the session, entitled ‘Anti-Social Behaviour, still living the nightmare?’ will include:
- Paul Burns, barrister at Exchange Chambers
- Josephine Morton, Social Housing Partner at Brabners Solicitors
- Simon Evans of Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council and
- Jenny Herrera of ASB Help.
The event will be held at Exchange Chambers, 5th Floor, 201 Deansgate, Manchester, M3 3NW. There will also be a video link to Trinity Chambers, The Custom House, Quayside, Newcastle, where local social housing lawyers can see the talks as well as network with fellow social housing colleagues.Registration followed by networking and drinks will take place from 6 pm, with the presentations starting at 6.30 pm and concluding at 8 pm.
