Trinity Criminal barrister, Sophie Johnstone has secured the unanimous acquittal of her client charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The incident arose after two female complainants approached Sophie’s client and his partner who were walking home after a night out. An altercation ensued between the respective groups resulting in each complainant sustaining various injuries. Sophie’s client argued that he was acting in self-defence.
After an hour and seven minutes of deliberations, the jury returned unanimous verdicts of not guilty to both counts.
