On 30th September the High Court allowed judicial review of the Legal Services Commission's family tendering and contracting process which was declared unlawful.
It was found that the tender round was likely to impede access to justice for vulnerable families. The proceedings were brought on behalf of the Law Society involving around 70 solicitors firms. The intervention in support of the Law Society on behalf of the North Eastern Group was dealt with by Philip Engelman and Jane Callan of Trinity Chambers.
The Legal Services Commission have been given leave to appeal.
