Charles Holland Joins Trinity Chambers
Head of Trinity Chambers, Toby Hedworth Q.C. is “delighted” to welcome back to Chambers barrister Charles Holland. Called to the Bar in 1994, Charles joins Trinity’s Administrative, Business, Chancery and Regulatory Practice Groups.
Charles has a busy and substantial business and chancery practice, advising and acting for many years in complex commercial disputes in the North-East of England and beyond, particularly those relating to property, partnership and directors and shareholders. Under Commercial Dispute Resolution in Chambers UK 2012 , Charles is "recognised for his vigour and impressive advocacy skills".
He is also well known nationally as a specialist licensing advocate, and has acted in a large number of licensing applications relating to a wide range of venues and events, including high profile matters such as the Newcastle Carling Academy, the Birmingham Carling Academy, Darlington FC's stadium, the York Barbican Centre, the Sage and the "HiFi North" festival. He has an active taxi licensing practice, acting for operators and local authorities, as well as acting and advising in gambling and firearms matters. He regularly delivers lectures and seminars on the ever-changing licensing environment. His licensing practice involves a significant amount of work in the Administrative Court, where Charles also conducts public law cases largely concerning local authorities.
In the 2012 edition of Chambers UK Charles is described as "exceedingly good " and is rated in Band 1 for both the Northern and North Eastern Circuits under Licensing.
