Licensing Barrister Chairs Law Commission Event
Trinity Chambers' specialist licensing barrister, Charles Holland Chaired a meeting of the North East Strategic Licensing Group (NESLG) to consider the Law Commission’s proposed reforms to Taxi Licensing law. The meeting included a presentation by the Law Commission as well as workshops on the proposed changes to Taxi licensing regulation as part of the Commission’s Consultation process, details of which can be found here.
The all-day event was held at the offices of North Tyneside Council on 16th July 2012 and was attended by licensing officers and elected Members from 12 Local Authorities as well as members of the trade and passenger representatives from across the North East.
Charles is a member of Trinity Chambers' Licensing Group and regularly delivers seminars and lectures in relation to all aspects of licensing including alcohol, taxis, public entertainment, firearms and judicial review proceedings relating to licensing. Charles recently spoke on the implications of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 at a regional Licensing Conference entitled "Tackling alcohol in our communities - Are the new licensing powers the answer to our problems?". The event was organised by Balance, the North East Alcohol Office, in partnership with the North East Strategic Licensing Group.
