Amanda Sehat



Specialising in all aspects of children work, including public law and private law. 

In private law, Amanda has appeared in cases involving many aspects of children work. She has been instructed in complex contact matters, contested injunctions, private law disputes, change of name and residence matters and cases concerning domestic violence. She has dealt with issues including sexual abuse, mental health, factitious illness and implacably hostile parties. 

In public law cases Amanda is regularly instructed on behalf of most Local Authorities within the region, but also remains committed to representing parents, other family members, and children through the Children’s Guardian. Amanda’s experience includes cases of non-accidental injuries of the subject child, adolescent parents and vulnerable adults.

Amanda takes instructions at all levels and appears regularly in the Family Proceedings Courts and County Courts throughout the North and has also appeared in the High Court. Amanda has experience of appearing against litigants in person in both private and public law proceedings and she is able to approach matters firmly but fairly without inflaming an already tense situation.

Personal Injury

Amanda is regularly instructed in personal injury cases including infant approvals, small claims and fast track matters. Amanda has significant experience in dealing with road traffic and credit hire cases, acting for both claimants and defendants. Amanda has also undertaken work in relation to obtaining charging orders, unless orders, pre action disclosure and Norwich Pharmacal Orders. 

Amanda is experienced in acting in the County Court in holiday related claims (personal injury, spoiled holiday) on behalf of both claimants and defendants. 

Amanda accepts instructions both to represent parties in Court, Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) hearings and to provide written liability and quantum opinions, pleadings and skeleton arguments.


Amanda is instructed in all forms of commercial and contractual disputes including breach of contract, credit hire, debt recovery, sale of goods and hire purchase agreements.  Amanda advises on commercial transactions as well as acting on behalf of both claimants and defendants. Work is also undertaken in relation to corporate and personal insolvency matters including bankruptcy, winding up petitions and voluntary agreements.


Amanda practices in possession proceedings, housing injunctions and other housing matters. Amanda is experienced in acting on behalf of both tenants and landlords in cases concerning possession, eviction and anti-social behaviour injunctions, including allegations of drug dealing and violence.

Amanda has experience in advising and drafting in relation to landlord and tenant matters, including unlawful eviction, breach of covenant, residential and business tenancies and service charge disputes.
